How does RepForm personalize my training?
At signup we capture your experience level, goals, available equipment, and any active injuries. From there the program builds itself — not a template. Every session you complete adds to your history, so periodization adjusts week to week based on what you actually lifted, not what a textbook predicts you would.
Is this good for beginners?
Yes — beginners get the most value. Most people have never had a coach watch a single rep of their squat. RepForm scales every program by experience level: beginners get linear progression (+10 lb lower, +5 lb upper after one good session), intermediate moves to undulating variation, advanced progresses on block periodization. The coaching stays the same quality either way.
How is the coaching backed by exercise science?
Every form correction is hand-authored against peer-reviewed research — citations travel with the correction. Coaching cues use external-focus language ("drive your knees over your toes," "push the floor apart") — a motor-learning principle shown by dozens of studies to produce faster skill acquisition than internal cues ("squeeze your glutes"). When the Coach recommends a change, it explains why — grounded in the science, not vibes.
How does periodization work?
Your program is structured in phases with names you can see — Building, Pushing, Peak, Volume, Strength, Recovery. The model matches your experience and goal: linear progression for beginners building strength, undulating variation for intermediate hypertrophy work, block models for advanced lifters. The last week of every block is a deload. And a reactive deload triggers automatically if the AI sees RPE climbing, reps stalling, and form dropping at the same time — a pattern a good coach would catch.
What can I ask the Coach?
Anything training-related. "Should I add a deload this week?" "Why is my squat score dropping?" "Can I swap RDLs for good mornings?" The Coach responds with your full context — recent form scores, last 12 weeks of volume, current injuries, and the program you're on. It cites exercise science when it recommends a change rather than giving generic advice.
How does injury-awareness work?
Flag an injury in settings — location, severity, when it started. Affected exercises automatically filter out of your program. Substitutions that work around the injury surface with an explanation of why each swap is safer. When the injury clears, untick it and the full library returns.
How does the form analysis work?
Film a set with your phone camera. Pose detection runs on-device — your video never uploads to a server. The model scores every rep against 190+ specific form criteria covering 98 exercises, then surfaces external-focus coaching cues (e.g., "drive your knees over your toes" rather than generic "squat deeper"). Results come back in about a second.
How does logging and progressive overload work?
Weights, reps, and RPE from your last session auto-fill as suggestions. Tap to accept or bump the number. Rest timers start automatically between sets. When you complete a target, the next session suggests the appropriate jump — no math, no spreadsheet, no guessing. Your entire lifting history is searchable and exportable.
Is my data private?
Form analysis runs entirely on your device. Video never leaves your phone. Training data (weights, sets, reps) is stored in your account so the Coach can reference history, but it's never sold or shared. Full details in our Privacy Policy.
What equipment do I need?
Just your phone. Prop it up to film sets — no sensors, wearables, or special gear. The app adapts to what you have access to (full commercial gym, home garage, dumbbells only, bodyweight-only) and only programs exercises you can actually perform.
Is there a free tier?
Yes. The 14-day trial gives you full Pro access with no credit card. After that, the free tier keeps basic logging and program tracking with a limited number of form analyses per week. Pro unlocks unlimited form analyses, Ask the Coach, adaptive periodization, and reactive deloads.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Manage your subscription inside the app — Settings → Subscription → Cancel. Cancel any time before the 14-day trial ends and you won't be charged. After trial, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
How is this different from a human trainer?
A human trainer is limited to your booked sessions and their memory. RepForm is always on — every rep logged, every form score stored, every program shift traceable. You pay ~$7/month instead of $80/session, get instant answers instead of waiting until Thursday, and the coaching never has an off day. It doesn't replace a great trainer for hands-on cueing — but for 95% of training decisions, it's there when they aren't.
What devices are supported?
RepForm AI is built for modern iPhone and Android devices. Pose detection requires on-device ML acceleration, so devices from the last 3–4 years are recommended for best performance. Specific device compatibility is listed on the App Store and Play Store listings.
